Just a little love to start your day

The hubby and I both had today off work!  We celebrated by sleeping in and having a relaxed and fun breakfast.  The game plan was originally to have brunch and run to the store to get some better ingredients but it was -11 F when we woke up so the plans to go to the store were abandoned and we opted for lots of hot coffee instead.

So instead of home made fruit filling and home made pie crust (I was lazy its my day off after all) These yummy little tarts were made with puff pastry, filled with strawberry jam and topped off with fresh blueberries and cinnamon and sugar.
For not having everything I planed on I have to say these guys turned out really good!

This is what you will need to make some strawberry tarts:

1 sheet of puff pastry (or if you are awesome mix up some pie crust or use frozen pie crust)
Jam of your choice  Next time I will make freezer jam to fill these or home made apple pie filling)
1 egg beaten
Blueberries or Strawberries (optional)
Cinnamon and Sugar

Defrost your puff pastry either over night or set it out in the morning.

Heat oven to 350

Roll it out and cut into 8 rectangles.  I made mine 3.5in by 4.5 in.  Cut out hear shapes into half the rectangles (or any other shape that catches your fancy)

Place a tablespoon full of jam on the rectangles without the hearts cut out of them and spread it almost to the edge (be sure to leave room  so you can seal the whole thing up)

Place the cut out rectangle on top and use a fork to seal the edges.  Brush with the egg wash and cover with Cinnamon and sugar.  Add blueberries or strawberries now if you would like.

Bake for 10-15 min until puffed and golden brown.

Be sure to let them cool a bit before eating or you will have a very sad tongue.

Hope you enjoy these guys, I know the hubby sure did!

Chocolate Truffles

Can you tell?  I am totally geared up for Valentines day!  What's not to love about Valentines day, it is a day for sweet things, and even better for telling the people you care about how much they mean to you.  And hey if you don't like the holiday think of all the candy that goes on sale shortly after.

The one thing I really associate with Valentines day is CHOCOLATE!!!! I love the stuff.  This year  I am making the hubby some home made chocolate truffles in a variety of flavors.  The first flavor is a chocolate coffee truffle.  These guys are really rich with a semi bitter filling which balances out the richness and the sweetness quite nicely.

These truffles are available for order.  Contact me if interested and state the number of truffles you would like and I will get back to you with pricing.

Up next a raspberry chocolate truffle with a tutorial (If I remember to take pictures)

Have a sweet day everyone

Valentines day Truffle Box

These new cookie boxes I came up with are my new favorite thing to make.  In fact I love making them so much I wanted to share a tutorial with you, however I got so into making the box that I totally forgot to take pictures.  So I promise the next box I make I will finish up the pictures and have a fun tutorial for you all.

This box was made for my lovely friend Kristine who recently got engaged!  Yay congrats Kristine.

I wanted to make the couple something special to celebrate their special moment and what better than a box made of cookies filled with more cookies and some yummy chocolate coffee truffles!
Kristine was very surprised and loved the box.  Her fiance was also super helpful and super sneaky and let me know what the ring looked like so I could paint a replica of it to put in the box.

I hope you all enjoy the box as much as Kristine did, and I promise a tutorial is coming soon!

Love, Weddings and Valentines

So this post covers it all, Love, Weddings and Valentines!

These lovely cookies were made for a wonderful Korean couple that just recently tied the knot!

By the time the shipment reaches them it should be just in time for Valentines day, so I made these cookies with a bit of Valentines flair.

This sweet couple really Loves one another and I wanted a cute way to depict that in my cookies.  I asked each of them to let me know their favorite color, favorite animal and the date of their wedding and the date they first started dating (proposals are not big in Korea or I would have included that date in the cookie mix as well.

I love you in English and Korea

Valentines Day Gift Box

I am so excited to share this next goodie with you!

This is my new creation and my new favorite cookie to make!  A gift box made of cookies!

These lovely boxes can be filled with hand made chocolate truffles, mini cookies or both!

The top of the box can have a secret message written on the inside like "I love you" "Be Mine" or even "Marry Me"

This box was made for the wonderful folks with the Ambassadors club to help them raise money for the St. Paul Winter Carnival, thus the mini snowflake cookies inside.  When you order we can work out a special cookie design for you and your loved one.
When you order let me know what colors and designs you are interested in.  Also let me know if you want truffles, mini cookie or both in the box.

Boxes run from $40-$60 and are approximately 5.5in by 2.5in

Winter Carnival Cookies

I was asked to make some cookies this year for the Ambassadors Club for the Winter Carnival.  These lovely red and white snowflake cookies will be auctioned off tonight at the clubs dinner.  The money the raise will help support the club and the work they do for the St. Paul Winter Carnival

It was a blast making my snowflake cookies using a bit of colour. I can't wait to try this again next year around the holidays and make lots of different colored snowflakes!

I hope the Ambassadors club likes these cookies and that they help raise some money for the club.

Hope you all are having a great Thursday and keep checking back this week for some fun Valentines day cookies that will be available to order as well as some tutorials next week!
