Giraffe Birthday Cookies

Hand Painted cookies are some of my favorite cookies to make, they are also often the most challenging.

When my wonderful co-worker asked me for a set for her daughters 20th birthday I was thrilled.
Her only request was that I incorporate giraffes some how.

Giraffes you say... no problem!  I loved making this set, not only did I get to hand paint some fun cookies, I also go to work on my flower piping and did some stencil work as well!

Check out the whole set, doesn't it just give you warm fuzzies!  The mamma giraffe and baby were by far the favorite of my co-worker and her daughter.
Below you will find close ups of all the individual cookies.

These little mini cookies might just be my favorite of the set.  I love the color combo and how whimsical they look.

Finally the silhouette cookie.  Silhouette cookies are quickly becoming my favorites.  I really like how they turn out and once I have a stencils for them they are super easy to make.  At the moment I hand cut each of the stencils I use.  But I now have a giraffe stencil so any takers for some super cute giraffe cookies?

Hope you enjoyed the overwhelming cute!  Stay Sweet Everyone!!!

Antique 1st Birthday

By now most of you know my favorite orders are..... I would like some cookies, for this event, decorate them as you please.

It gives me a chance to try out a bunch of different techniques that I haven't had a chance to try on other cookies.

This next set was exactly that.  I got to play around with gumpaste, stenciling with icing, and adding cool texture to cookies with sprinkles and then airbrushing over it.

Hope you enjoy the cookies in all their Antique themed glory!

Funky Sock Cookies

I can't even begin to tell you all how excited I was to get this order.  I love funky socks!  When I go to Korea one of the first things on my list (besides eating lots of Korean food) is to buy crazy Korean socks.

When this order came in for a set of crazy sock cookies for a surprise 18th birthday I was thrilled!

The birthday boys mom sent me photos of some of his favorite funky socks and I replicated them in cookie form.

Hope you all get as big of a kick out of these cookies as I did.

Stay sweet everyone!

Cookie Birthday Cake

I have always wanted to make a tiered cookie cake and finally had the chance!
This cake was a blast to make, plus it is a surprise cookie cake, the middle two tiers are hollowed out and filled with candy.

This was a super easy cookie to make, over and done with in one day.  The nice thing about a stacked cookie like this is you don't have to let the icing dry for 24 hours like your regular sugar cookies.  I have actually found that stacking after about 30 min of a set time helps the structure say together while still keeping it easy to take a cookie off .
Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

1st Birthday Cookies for Lincoln

I love making cookies, my favorite type to make are birthday cookies, especially cookies for kids.  They are a lot of fun and really let me be creative.  They also allow me to keep things simple.  These cookies were made last minute for a friend's son, for his 1st birthday. I really enjoy how versatile my cupcake cookie cutter is.  Cupcakes are good for all occasions!

I could see these cookies being great for anyone's birthday not just a 1st birthday.  Maybe for a friend who isn't wild about cake but loves cookies (there are people out there that don't like cake.... believe me.... I happen to be one of them)

Maybe you just want to surprise someone special to you but don't know exactly when you will be seeing them.  A cupcake cookie is perfect for that!  They keep much longer than cupcakes and are just as cute (in my opinion at least)

This same set could be made with a variety of numbers on the round cookies or just leave them with dots...maybe a little heart or star in the middle.

In the end, these cookies were for a very special little boys birthday.  Happy Birthday Lincoln!  You are a sweet little boy and I can't wait to see you grow up into a wonderful young man.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Train Birthday Cookies

Chugga Chugga Choo Chooo
looks what's coming down the track... some birthday cookies for a sweet little boy who is turning 3!

He had a train themed birthday party.

I made the cookies to match the party decorations.  Below is an example of one of the signs used to label different activities that were going on at the party.

The colors of the cookies are a bit closer to the party decorations than shown in the pictures, the birthday boys mom send this to me after the party "Vanessa, the cookies were a huge it! They were yummy and they matched the party perfectly. Several people asked for your card :-) Thanks again!"

When I do custom orders I come up with several designs for the customer.  One of the designs I came up with was a train cookie.  The client opted for a single cookie instead but I included one train cookie as a bonus and a thank you for her order.

I am thrilled with how the train cookie turned out and can't wait to make more like it.

Have a sweet day everyone!!!
