Corporate cookies

I have been itching to use my new airbrush that I received as a gift for christmas.  I knew this was just the set to use it on.

I needed to crank out 5doz flower cookies with the corporations logo in the middle.

Rather than piping each by hand (can anyone say hand cramp) I opted to make a stencil and then try out my new airbrush.

I have to say I was absolutely thrilled with the results.

These were a lot of fun to make.  Navy and white look so elegant together and the dusting of luster dust adds the extra pop of elegance these cookies were begging for.

I can't wait to try some more of these with different logos.
Until then Stay Sweet Everyone :D

So long, farewell, au wiedersehen, adieu

These cookies were made for a co-worker as a goodbye present.

She was moving out of state with her sweetheart.

I wish her the best of luck on her new journey in life.

Good Luck Reb! Stay Sweet!!

Hoping for a heat wave

We have had a cold snap here in MN.  Like below 0 with wind chill making it feel like -20 or worse.
So Birrrrrrrrr

However starting tomorrow we are going to reach 23 degrees!!!!!
To celebrate I thought it would only be appropriate to post some nice beachy cookies.

My boss and his lovely lady recently got hitched and I made them some cookies to celebrate.
The got married in Florida so I suppose beach themed cookies were appropriate.

I hope you enjoy the warm sunny cookies.
Hopefully they bring some warmth to you during this nasty cold winter.

Stay Sweet and warm everyone ^^

Gender Neutral Baby Shower Cookies

I was commissioned to make some baby shower cookies that were gender neutral, and would set the theme for the baby shower.  The client had not yet picked out colors or a theme for the shower and told me they would match the show to the cookies.  Talk about stress....

I ended up choosing a sunny yellow and a light grass green for the colors and then gave the client several cookie designs to choose from.  She ended up choosing baby foot prints and a stork.

Whenever you place a custom cookie order with Something sweet you will get several cookie options and prices to choose from.  Here is the sketches my baby shower client received.

Cookie ideas continued
Up first are the storks.  I used the cookies featured on Sugarbelle's site for inspiration.  You can read the blog post here the cookies are truly amazing!

The storks were painted with a thin layer of white luster dust.

Next came the baby feet cookies.  These were a blast to make and a great learning experience for me.  I have recently started using disco dust in some of my designs and have been experimenting with different applications.  This time I put the disco dust on the cookies while the icing was still wet.  Thus far it is my favorite way to apply the disco dust.

I love the bright shine it gives the cookies.

This was such a fun set to make.  I can't wait to do more baby shower cookies.  The soft colors and cute designs are a lot of fun to play around with.

Stay sweet guys :D

Corset cookies: tutorial

As promised here is a brief tutorial on how to cut out the corset bachelorette set posted  here.
You will need two cutters to make these cookies, a small heart and an egg cutter.
If you don't have either of these cutters you could make a template or cut these by hand.  But it is much faster to use the cutters if you have them.

First role out your cookie dough and flower your cutters.

Use your egg cutter to cut out an egg shape.

Then use your egg cutter to create the hourglass shape of a corset.  If you space it right the first cookie should cut out the hips of the second cookie.

Use your small heart cutter to cut out the top edge of the corset.  You could do this part by had as well.  I just pressed along the top edge of the cutter so my cookie wasn't cut into two sections.  You can cut the cookie into two parts and bake them together on the cookie sheet but I like keeping the cookie in one section.

This is what your finished cut out should look like.  If needed you can use your fingers to pat down the edges and make the cookie smooth and uniform along the top edge.

Transfer your cookies to a baking sheet and bake these babies.

My first set was so popular I made a second set of lingerie cookies for a friends bachelorette party.  It was a perfect gift because at the party the played a game where each girl brought the bride a pair of underwear and the bride had to guess who had bought here each pair.

How fun are her wedding colors!  Teal and orange for a fall wedding.

Happy baking everyone, Stay sweet ^^
