Welcome Home!

There is nothing more exciting than moving into a new house, especially when it is your 1st house!

These cookies were made as a gift for a few friends who have just recently moved into their 1st house.

The cookies were a huge hit at the housewarming party.  Do you know anyone who is moving?

How sweet would it be to show up to there place with a platter full of housewarming cookies, so much sweeter and easier to care for than a house plant ;)

Train Birthday Cookies

Chugga Chugga Choo Chooo
looks what's coming down the track... some birthday cookies for a sweet little boy who is turning 3!

He had a train themed birthday party.

I made the cookies to match the party decorations.  Below is an example of one of the signs used to label different activities that were going on at the party.

The colors of the cookies are a bit closer to the party decorations than shown in the pictures, the birthday boys mom send this to me after the party "Vanessa, the cookies were a huge it! They were yummy and they matched the party perfectly. Several people asked for your card :-) Thanks again!"

When I do custom orders I come up with several designs for the customer.  One of the designs I came up with was a train cookie.  The client opted for a single cookie instead but I included one train cookie as a bonus and a thank you for her order.

I am thrilled with how the train cookie turned out and can't wait to make more like it.

Have a sweet day everyone!!!

Happy Graduation

Tis the season of mortar boards and gowns.

Facebook is a sprawl of happy faces and tassels hanging from hats.
There are two special graduates in my life this year.  First, Tyler a good family friend will be going out into the world of sports team management. He is going off to help manage a baseball team out west.  Good Luck Tyler.  These cookies were made for an impromptu graduation party that was thrown for Tyler.

My second special graduate is my hubby, he will be graduating with his MBA this week.  And by graduating I mean he still has 14 weeks of classes left but that's just how graduate school works.
I will be making him something special on his official last day of school.

Be sure to go and congratulate a grad today!  :D

Turtle Birthday Cookies

For those of you in the Midwest right now here is a little slice of hope for warm days to come....

Look at how warm these turtles look, basking on a nice sandy (brown sugar) beach in nice warm sunlight.
Soon (I really really hope) we can all be out enjoying nice sunny weather, instead of all this snow :(

These cookies were made for a super sweet little boy for his 5th birthday.
The big turtle cookie is filled with nerds and 5 jelly beans to celebrate being 5!

I should have a tutorial coming up soon for these fun turtle-tastic cookies!
Stay warm everyone!

Coffee for your birthday

I love coffee, it makes my morning, heck the smell of it just perks me up....
which is probably why I love working in a coffee shop.

One of the many perks of working at a coffee shop is free coffee.  I get a free pound a week which means I have loads and loads of coffee.... I have coffee coming out my ears!  So what do I do with all this coffee?  Naturally, I make cookies!

These coffee bean cookies are coffee flavored with a chocolate raspberry royal icing which makes them  Raspberry Mocha Cookies!

They were a gift for a friends birthday who happens to be from Korea.  I thought the mug would be a nice way for him to remember Minneapolis when he eventually returns to Korea.

P.S even I make mistakes sometimes/very often can you catch my mistake on these cookies?

Giddy Up!

Giddy Up ya'll!

These cute horse cookies were made for one of my old students 5th birthday!

The birthday girl is in love with horses!

For her Birthday her parents rented a petting zoo in lieu of gifts!  How fun is that!

I got to hand deliver these lovely cookies with my hubby the day of there party.
While there we got to pet bunnies, ducks, chickens, geese, lamas, goats and sheep as well as one very fluffy dog.

To top it off there was even a pony that looked a whole lot like the cookies I brought.

This cookie looks just like blueberry the real pony at the party :D
Unfortunately I was way to big for a pony ride, but the birthday girl sure did love it!
I hope you all love these cookies as much as the birthday girl did!

Have a special event coming up in your future? Feel free to contact me about custom cookies for the event, I am willing to try anything!

Korean Wedding Cookies

As you saw in my previous post my best friend in Korea is getting married.

I made chicken cookies for him and didn't want his soon to be wife to be left out.
They are having a Korean Catholic wedding but I thought it would be fun to do some cookies decorated in a traditional Korean wedding theme.
The cookies are a mix of Lemon Vanilla, Chocolate Raspberry and Vanilla Bean.

After the ceremony the happy couple is showered with dates and chestnuts which they try and catch in a cloth between them.  The chestnuts represent boys and the dates girls.  The number they catch represents the number of children they will have.  I really hope this is not true because when Lee and I got married we caught a ton of them......

Every couple in Korea is given a pair of wooden ducks by their family.  Ducks mate for life and they are used to symbolize longevity in the marriage.  There are also a fun way to tell how the couple is doing.  When the ducks are facing each other that means that the couple is happy, however if they are back to back it means they are fighting.

Looks like happy times ahead

Lack and Hey Young his wife to be are getting married on the 13th of April which is the height of cheery blossom season in Korea.  I thought it was only appropriate that they have some cherry blossom cookies for their special day.

Congratulations to the happy couple I wish all the best for you!
