Molasses Cookie Snowflakes

Can you feel it in the air?  The cool bite?  Winter is here, or at least in Minnesota it is.  Winter means snow to  me.  I figure if it is going to be as cold as it is it might as well be beautiful too.
We don't have much snow yet but I sure hope it's coming.  While I wait these beautiful little snowflake cookies will have to keep me happy.

Remember now is the time to put in your orders for Holiday Cookies!  One Dozen of these sparkly jewels cost $15 plus shipping.

These happy little snowflakes are dusted in luster dust or sanding sugar.  They can be left blank as well.  It is all up to you.

If you are interested in ordering please e-mail me at vanessaslingsby@gmail.com,  I can't wait to start your order!

Happy Turkey Day

A bit late but Happy Thanksgiving non the less.  I was in charge of pies this Thanksgiving.  I made a deliciously tart cranberry and pear pie which was served with  my mum's delicious cinnamon vanilla homemade ice cream!

I also made a new family favorite, Mini Sweet Potato pies.  The little bites of fall goodness were topped with a variety of my sugar cookie flavors.

They were a huge hit with my family.  I hope you enjoy them as much as they did.

Cookie Flavors

Top Down: Key Lime, Orange Spice, Chocolate
I have been busy in the kitchen all week coming up with new and exciting cookie flavors!  I hope you see something you like.  If you are interested in ordering more than one flavor I am able to do 1 doz cookies 6 one flavor and 6 another of your choosing.  If you want 1 doz cookies with each cookie a different flavor there will be an additional charge.
Bring on the cookie flavors!

Pumpkin Spice, a perfect cookie for the colder months.  Spicy and sweet with a hint of orange.  This cookie goes great with a vanilla, lemon or orange royal icing.

Pumpkin Spice goodness
Need a pick me up in the morning afternoon or night?  This coffee sugar cookie is great any time of the day.  This one goes great with a chocolate royal icing or vanilla.

Like flavored coffee?  I know I do, I can make this cookie with any flavored coffee you like!
Another fall and winter favorite of mine, molasses cookies.  I finally found a cut out cookie recipe that worked.  These are crisp, spicy and rich in molasses flavor.  They go great with a rum royal icing or jazz them up for the warmer months with a lemon royal icing.

rich molasses with just the right amount of spice, can you see that lovely color peeking through, warm brown goodness.
Who doesn't love pie?  These scrumptious Key Lime Pie cookies are adapted from Bridget's awesome cook book Decorating Cookies I didn't have any Key lime extract so I used zest and juice from a lime.  These guys are a great sweet treat any time of the day.

Would you like some pie?

I love the smell of orange and cinnamon together.  I love the taste even more.  These yummy sugar cookies are filled with orange zest and juice, and a plethora of spices like cinnamon, ginger, cloves and allspice.

something tangy, sweet and spicy, mmmmmm

Last but not least, this lemon sugar cookie is my go to sugar cookie.  A sweet rich vanilla cookie with just a hint of lemon.  It is a bright cheery cookie that isn't too sweet but just enough to end that sugar craving you have been having all day.

Hello Sunshine

I have a bunch of other flavors I am working on that are not pictured, like chocolate raspberry, chocolate mint, chai spice, black tea, green tea as well as a few others.  If you have any special sugar cookie requests please feel free to let me know.  I am happy to try and work something out.

As always if you are interested in any of the recipes please feel free to comment and I will work on writing a post for you.

Have a sweet day!

Pepero and Veterans Day

image obtained from google images
November 11th Veterans day in the U.S and Pepero Day in Korea.  Pepero are crunchy cookie sticks that are coated with chocolate.  In Korea on 11/11 you give your friends pepero because the long thin sticks look like the number 1.  While teaching in Korea I would get boxes and boxes of these tasty treats.  I wanted to celebrate the holiday state side with my Korean friends so I decided to make my very own pepero.
pepero for the hubby

They still need some work but I really enjoyed how they turned out. Be sure to add a comment if you want the recipe!

pepero for friends!
November 11th is also veterans day and I wanted to do something to honor the men and women who have given their all to keep this country safe.

I made a U.S themed pepero to honor our veterans and remember that while in Korea it is fun to get a sweet treat on Nov. 11th it is even better to remember our veterans and all they have done for us.

Did you thank a veteran on Veterans day?  Be sure to go out an spread your appreciation.  A simple thank you or a kind gesture will go far.  I would like to say a big Thank You to all the veterans out there for everything you have done to support our country!
